Honestly just go gray like everyone else here will probably tell you — takes a little digging but once you find a solid source you'll never bother with anything else.

Definitely worth it, especially considering it takes barely a minute and costs almost nothing. And if you're already in the process of moving it into pen cartridges anyway, it's basically no extra effort at that point.
