Sure, the weight loss looks incredible in the moment. But what happens once you come off? From what I keep seeing, the weight comes right back, often with extra on top. Meanwhile your metabolism takes a hit and you end up in a worse spot than where you started.

And honestly, can we talk about how nobody actually knows what these drugs do after years of use? The longest studies I've found cap out around 2 years. We're essentially the test subjects here.

I keep running into stories of people stuck with constant nausea, gallbladders being taken out, strange pancreas issues. And the doctors just kind of shrug and say "huh, interesting" because they're in the dark too.

For PCOS specifically, it feels like swapping a bunch of unknown risks for results that only last as long as you're on it. The moment you can't keep up with the $300 a month, you're right back to where you began — except now possibly with a wrecked digestive system.

I don't know, maybe I'm just being paranoid, but something about how hard these are being promoted while we know so little long term really doesn't sit right with me.

Anyone else getting the same uneasy feeling about all of this?

Now I'm 29, sitting at 250lbs, and was just diagnosed with insulin resistant PCOS, which honestly may have been there all along but my active lifestyle kept it in check. At this point I'm open to getting a little help because the hard truth is that the moment life disrupts your routine, the weight comes back no matter how you lost it - and I've lived that firsthand.

Also, the goal here isn't aesthetics, it's preventing real damage from chronically elevated blood sugar and out-of-control lipids, which wreak havoc on your blood vessels and liver over time. It's worth noting that people casually recommend supplements in these threads constantly, yet those have far less research behind them than FDA-approved medications. At the end of the day, nobody's forcing anyone to use GLP-1s - it's just another tool, and people can decide for themselves what fits their situation.

I've been on Ozempic for my A1C and it's worked well for me, aside from some moderate nausea. I've also had to stop taking it at certain points and my metabolism was completely fine, hunger just went back to normal.

So that "dark truth" you're referring to isn't really accurate, at least not universally.

Also just preemptively shutting down the snake venom thing because no, that's not a thing with Ozempic.

People regaining weight almost always comes down to returning to old habits rather than the drug itself — if you genuinely change your lifestyle, that's much less likely to happen. Ozempic also isn't as new as people act like it is, it's just getting media attention now. And a huge part of the problem is healthy-weight people abusing it when it was designed for those with diabetes or insulin resistance — that's going to skew the negative outcomes data significantly.
